Leadership Summer Series 2027
Start strong. Lead with precision. Accelerate growth from Day 1.
Two strands, K-2 and Grades 3-5, built for the leaders responsible for reading outcomes. Ten working sessions that turn your data into a plan before the school year begins.
Seats are limited to preserve the quality of each working session.
Why this series works
Not another summer PD. This is where leadership shifts.
Schools stop reacting and start leading with clarity, precision, and purpose, before a single student walks through the door.
Systems ready on Day 1
Built in July, not repaired in October.
Flip the triangle
Move students out of risk, faster.
Tier 1, 2, and 3 aligned
Consistent instruction across every classroom.
Measurable growth
Progress you can see in your benchmark data.
The reality
Most schools prepare for September the wrong way.
Reviewing data without acting on it. Planning without aligning systems. Hoping instruction improves without changing leadership moves.
Reactive schools
Weak implementation systems
Late intervention moves
Inconsistent instruction
Leadership playing catch-up
Lost momentum
High-performing schools
Systems before Day 1
Clarity before confusion
Momentum before problems
Leadership precision
Students reaching proficiency
By October, reactive schools are repairing what should have been built in July.
What you leave with
Not theory. Execution.
A Day 1 ready literacy system
Progress monitoring that drives instruction
Aligned Tier 1, 2, and 3 systems
Small group frameworks built on diagnostics
Clarity on what to look for and how to respond
A 90-day roadmap for reading growth

Session 1Progress Monitoring From Day One: How Schools Flip the Triangle New for 2027
Build a schoolwide progress monitoring system and a first 20 days roadmap that helps leaders act early.
Progress Monitoring From Day One: How Schools Flip the Triangle New for 2027
Build a schoolwide progress monitoring system and a first 20 days roadmap that helps leaders act early.
Most schools wait too long to act. High-performing schools do not. Build a schoolwide progress monitoring system from Day One, so students who are at risk do not stay there.
You will leave with
- The CSAS Progress Monitoring Launch Kit
- A 20-day implementation roadmap
- Systems to move students from below benchmark to proficient, faster
Session 2Data to Drive. Leaders Who Deliver.
Turn end-of-year data into a focused 90-day action plan with clear priorities and measurable targets.
Data to Drive. Leaders Who Deliver.
Turn end-of-year data into a focused 90-day action plan with clear priorities and measurable targets.
Your data is not the problem. What you do with it is. Move past color codes and surface-level analysis to identify what is actually blocking student growth.
You will learn how to
- Identify instructional root causes
- Build a 90-day literacy action plan
- Align instruction to what students actually need
Session 3Leading Core Programs and Decodable Text With Fidelity Updated for 2027
Align core instruction, connected text, and decodable routines across every K-2 classroom.
Leading Core Programs and Decodable Text With Fidelity Updated for 2027
Align core instruction, connected text, and decodable routines across every K-2 classroom.
Strong Tier 1 instruction is not enough on its own. Alignment is everything. Lead UFLI Foundations and HMH Into Reading with fidelity, then connect that instruction to the decodable text students read every day.
You will learn how to
- Launch explicit, systematic core instruction
- Align phonics skills with decodable text practice
- Build automaticity through connected text routines
- Monitor mastery, accuracy, and fluency in real time
Session 4Structured Literacy Block: Design, Protect, and Deliver Results
Design and protect a literacy block that maximizes every minute and creates schoolwide alignment.
Structured Literacy Block: Design, Protect, and Deliver Results
Design and protect a literacy block that maximizes every minute and creates schoolwide alignment.
Your literacy block is your most powerful lever. Design and protect a block that maximizes instructional time and drives stronger foundational skills outcomes.
You will learn how to
- Build a high-impact literacy block
- Embed MTSS seamlessly into daily instruction
- Ensure alignment across classrooms and grade levels
Session 5Small Groups, Secondary Diagnostics, and Intervention Matching
Use diagnostics and data cycles to build precise groups and match students to the right support.
Small Groups, Secondary Diagnostics, and Intervention Matching
Use diagnostics and data cycles to build precise groups and match students to the right support.
Small groups only work when they are built with precision.
You will learn how to
- Use PAST, CORE, and placement tools to pinpoint exact skill gaps
- Build targeted, skill-based groups
- Match students to the right intervention at the right time
- Run data cycles that lead to measurable growth
Session 1Progress Monitoring From Day One: Flipping the Triangle New for 2027
Set the vision, systems, and priorities needed to accelerate Grades 3-5 literacy from Day 1.
Progress Monitoring From Day One: Flipping the Triangle New for 2027
Set the vision, systems, and priorities needed to accelerate Grades 3-5 literacy from Day 1.
Grades 3-5 students cannot afford another year of broad, unclear support. Establish the systems, structures, and priorities that accelerate upper elementary literacy from the first day of school.
You will leave with
- A clear acceleration focus for Grades 3-5
- Leadership priorities for launching stronger systems
- A framework for starting the year with clarity and urgency
Session 2Data to Drive. Leaders Who Deliver.
Identify root causes, target priorities, and build a sharper upper elementary action plan.
Data to Drive. Leaders Who Deliver.
Identify root causes, target priorities, and build a sharper upper elementary action plan.
Your upper elementary data tells a deeper story, but only if you know how to read it. Move beyond broad proficiency labels to what is actually preventing grade-level success.
You will learn how to
- Identify root causes behind reading difficulty
- Prioritize the right instructional focus areas
- Build a sharper Grades 3-5 literacy action plan
Session 3Phonics for Reading and REWARDS Intervention New for 2027
Lead the Tier 2 and 3 intervention programs that move upper elementary students to accurate, automatic word reading.
Phonics for Reading and REWARDS Intervention New for 2027
Lead the Tier 2 and 3 intervention programs that move upper elementary students to accurate, automatic word reading.
Upper elementary intervention works only when the right students receive the right program at the right intensity. Strengthen implementation of Phonics for Reading for Tier 2 and 3, then accelerate multisyllabic decoding and content-area reading with REWARDS for Tier 2.
You will learn how to
- Match students to the right intervention pathway
- Strengthen implementation fidelity across groups
- Support automaticity, accuracy, and word reading growth
- Monitor whether intervention is actually working
Session 4Structured Literacy Block for Grades 3-5
Design a block that integrates decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension with MTSS alignment.
Structured Literacy Block for Grades 3-5
Design a block that integrates decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension with MTSS alignment.
Upper elementary students need word-level work and language comprehension in the same block. Design a structure that protects both and keeps intervention connected to core instruction.
You will learn how to
- Strengthen the bridge from word reading to comprehension
- Improve fluency and language-based reading performance
- Align Tier 1, 2, and 3 within a single block
Session 5Mastering Vocabulary, Fluency, and Comprehension Through Test Sophistication
Build the language, stamina, and test-taking behaviors upper elementary students need before testing season.
Mastering Vocabulary, Fluency, and Comprehension Through Test Sophistication
Build the language, stamina, and test-taking behaviors upper elementary students need before testing season.
Strong assessment performance is built long before testing season. Vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension carry the content, and test sophistication carries the format: how questions are worded, what evidence a response requires, and how students manage time and stamina across a passage set.
You will learn how to
- Build vocabulary and fluency routines that feed comprehension
- Teach the question types and response demands students actually face
- Develop stamina across longer, more complex passage sets
- Embed test sophistication in daily instruction rather than a testing unit

Program details
Registration for individuals and teams.
Who should attend?
Principals, assistant principals, district leaders, literacy leaders, and school-based leadership teams responsible for K-5 literacy outcomes.
Can leaders attend one strand only?
Yes. Teams can participate in the K-2 strand, the Grades 3-5 strand, or both, based on school priorities and instructional needs.
How much does it cost?
The cost is $280 per participant, per session.
What is required to register?
A purchase order is required, and the PO must include the names of all participants attending the series.
Do sessions build on each other?
Each session stands on its own, and the sequence is designed to build a complete system across the summer. Teams that attend the full strand leave with a connected plan rather than seven separate takeaways.
Your leadership launchpad
Build the systems now. Lead with precision this fall.
Stronger instruction. Clearer systems. Higher proficiency. Real momentum in September. It starts here.
